Mr. Mohamud Mohamed
Mr. Mohamud is a senior researcher with over 10 years of professional experience in higher education, sustainable SMEs, digital transformation, ICT in agriculture, open data, and open sciences.
Currently serving as the Rector of Zamzam University of Science and Technology in Somalia, he leads the strategic development and administrative operations of the university.
He has developed strategies and an integrated development model to transform the university into a technical and entrepreneurial institution.
Mr. Mohamud is also an active member of several research communities and societies, contributing his extensive knowledge and expertise to various fields.
Dr. Abdul Rashid Omar
Dr. Abdul Rashid is currently a Senior Lecturer and Professional Technologists as well as Director research & innovation center at Zamzam University of Science & Technology.
He holds a PhD, MEng, and BEng. He is a licensed professional engineer in Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and a former renewable energy expert consultant with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and GOPA Worldwide Consultants.
His extensiveexperience in renewable energy consultancy has significantly contributed to various international projects, showcasing his expertise in sustainable energy solutions.
Dr. Fuad Mire Hassan
Dr. Fuad is a Senior Lecturer and ICT Consultant with a PhD in Computer Science (specializing in Natural Language Processing) from the University of Birmingham, UK.
With over 10 years of experience, he excels in big data analytics, data science, and engineering, utilizing tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Google Cloud.
Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer at Somali National University and also teaches at Simad and Jamhuriya Universities, covering topics such as Python for Data Science, Machine Learning, and Data Visualization.
Dr. Fuad supervises MSc research projects in AI and conducts research using advanced deep learning models.
Steering Committee
Mr. Ahmed Osman Ali
Mr. Ahmed is an AI researcher specializing in Deep Reinforcement Learning and an expert in strategy formulation, development policies, and sustainable ICT planning. With over eight years of professional experience, he has a broad skill set in AI technical advisement and its applications for societal benefit.
Currently, Ahmed serves as the Deputy Rector at Zamzam University of Science and Technology in Mogadishu, Somalia. He has previously held roles such as Senior Lecturer, Secretary, Acting Dean, and Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Science at the same university.
He is a prominent lecturer and researcher in Algorithms, Data Structures, Technology Entrepreneurship, and Data Science, actively advising youth on innovation, technology adaptation, and startup transformation.
Mr. Abdiasis Hassan Ah
Abdissis has graduated from Zamzam University with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. Based in Mogadishu, Somalia, he is a data scientist with a strong background in AI and machine learning.
His professional journey includes co-organizing PyCon Somalia and co-founding the Somalia Cybersecurity Community, showcasing his commitment to enhancing cybersecurity. As the Google Developer Student Clubs Lead at Zamzam University, Abdissis fostered a culture of technological innovation and creativity among students.
He is skilled in software development, Python, machine learning, and project management. Abdissis is passionate about advancing his expertise in data science and machine learning, with a focus on fostering educational and technological growth.
Mr. Sidow Adan
Sidow is an undergraduate student at Zamzam University of Science and Technology, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with a focus on DevOps and AI.
He serves as the ACM Chapter Chair at Zamzam University, a GitHub Campus Expert, and a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador.
Sidow is known for his strong community-building skills and teamwork.
He is also a Chair and Lead Organizer of PyCon Somalia. His professional interests lie in advancing his expertise in AI and DevOps, aiming to contribute significantly to these fields.
